Artist’s Description:

In 2003, I had the opportunity to go to Germany, Austria and Switzerland for 13 days with 22 other Girl Scouts  and seven (brave) leaders from Troop 5008 based out of Southbury, Connecticut.  The older girls in my troop learned about the locations of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) four international Scouting centers in fourth grade.  The centers are located in England, Mexico, India and Switzerland.  Their goal was to visit Our Chalet, and in their junior year of high school, despite September 11th, their dream came true.  We stayed at Our Chalet located in the valley called the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland which is nestled in the Alps at an elevation of 4,430 ft or 1,350 m near the town of Adelboden.  This picture captures Our Chalet (the dark building partially hidden behind the trees) in the morning from one of their campgrounds.
